9 Days Gorillas, chimps, cultural experiences and wildlife safaris
The 9 days’ trip to Uganda will grant you the chance to experience the Gorillas, chimps, savannah animals like buffaloes, elephants antelopes and the big cats like the lions, leopards, hyenas plus other primates of the forest, a variety of bird species plus the cultural experiences as we also visit the Bunyonyi islands for relaxation.
Day 1: 28 July – Arrival to Uganda at Entebbe international airport
your safari guide will pick you from Entebbe international airport and transfer you to our guest home in Kampala to relax after the flight and be ready for the safari the next day. OVERNIGHT AT VICTORIA GUEST HOUSE.
Day 2. 29 July – Transfer to Murchison falls national park via Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary
Wake up early in the morning for breakfast and after transfer to Murchison falls national park. On our way we shall visit the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino trekking. We shall have along the way as we continue to the lodge for relaxation and dinner. OVERNIGHT AT PAKUBA SAFARI LODGE
Day 2:31th July, 2022 – Morning game drive & boat-cruise with hike to the top of the falls in Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast, depart for a morning game drive within the park expecting to meet large heards of Elephants, buffaloes grazing. You will have chance to look for the big cats like lions, leopards among others. In the afternoon you go for a 2hour boat ride on the Nile to the base of Murchison Falls where you get to see the Hippos, Nile Crocodiles, Elephants and a variety of beautiful bird species along the banks. If you are a keen birder this might be your magnet to catch them. When reaching the falls, you jump off the boat and go with a guide to the top of the falls. It is a beautiful hike that takes you to see the falls close up as an explosive dash of water at close range gushes through a narrow crevice before the Nile continues its journey towards the Mediterranean. Your guide picks you at the top of the falls and you continue on to the town Masindi for an overnight.
(The hike to the top of the falls includes a steep trail so might not be suitable if you have some health issues.) Overnight at Pakuba safari Lodge
Day 3: 1st Aug, 2022 – Transfer to Kibale Forest national park, “The Primate City.
After breakfast transfer to kibale forest national park for a 5hrs drive with our target to have lunch in Fort portal town and proceed for an evening around in the Tropical forest. Pressure and fatigue is lessened as a punctuation of stopovers at sceneries, typical African village setup in the far countryside and tea plantations along the drive offer us chances of stretching. When entering the Kibale area we keep our eyes open since there is an amazing display of primates in this area. Monkey species that can be seen are for example black and white colobus, red colobus, red tailed monkey and grey cheeked mangabeys. Overnight at isunga lodge.
Day 4: 2nd Aug, 2022 – chimpanzee trekking – transfer to Queen Elizabeth National park
After breakfast, head into the forest of the Primate City of Kibale in the morning for chimpanzee trekking. This is a three-hour experience. Kibale Forest national park is a rainy forest and a home to over 1500 Chimpanzees. Here you have the chance to see the chimps close up and capture shots of our closet cousins in the jungle in there frenzy exciting moods as they are grooming, building relationships, bringing up young ones, think and sharing food, plus rare bird species following them. In the forest 9 different species of Monkeys are found so you have chances of seeing red colobus, red tailed monkey and bush babies on a great day. After the trek your guide picks you and takes you back to the lodge. Relax for lunch and in the afternoon Transfer to Queen Elizabeth, with a visit to the crater lakes area of Kyambura. Overnight at Elephant hab lodge.
Day 5:3rd Aug, 2022 – game drive and boat cruise in Queen Elizabeth national park.
Have breakfast and go for an early morning game drive that exposes us to diverse animals, Big 5 members Elephants, Buffalos, big cats- Lions, Leopards, warthogs- Hunchback carnivals like Hyenas and many more species that are residents to this park are spotted along the Circuits as we drive along. There is a rich bird life especially our version of storks in the wetland spots as we reach the Flamingos in the salt lakes. After lunch get ready for the Classic highlights on the 2hrs Boat cruise on the famous Kazinga channel. This 36kms channel links Lake George and Lake Edward. Here you can see land and water Adapted Hippopotamuses Yawning, Nile crocodile gaping along the Banks and Savannah version of Pigs the Warthog- Pumba are a hallmark sign in this Animal. With your Binoculars along the peninsula you have a magnificent view of Birds and animals like the ever playing African Elephants in Waters. Overnight at Elephant Hab lodge.
Day 6: 4th Aug, 2022 – Game drives Ishasha and transfer to Bwindi impenetrable national park
Have breakfast and depart for Ishasha, the southern sector of Queen Elizabeth NP known for tree-climbing lions. Here you go for a game-drive to see topis, buffaloes, elephants and hopefully lions high in the fig-tree branches. After the game-drive we continue on to the mountains of Bwindi. This journey offers stunning views as we transfer from a landscape of savanna, via cultivated hills to the forest covered mountains of Bwindi. (If we reach early we can do a walk and mix with the locals). Overnight at Buhoma community rest camp
Day 7: 5th Aug, 2022 – gorilla trekking Bwindi impenetrable national park
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the home to the forest giants that are cousins to human beings, the gorillas, and here you will have the highlight of gorilla trekking. In the morning you head into the jungle in a group with a specialized guide and trek up to the point where the gorillas are. You then get to spend one hour with these gentle giants. This Impenetrable Forest is as well full of birds, butterfly and plant species plus forest hog, forest elephants, statungas and dikers. After the trek your guide picks you and make the drive to Lake Bunyonyi, which is offers beautiful scenic nature and a chance for a swim (safe here since there is no bilharzia). Day 8. 6th Aug 2022 – transfer to Lake Mburo the zebra pearl – afternoon game drive
After breakfast leave the beautiful lake behind and make the journey to Lake Mburo national park. We aim to reach the lodge in time for lunch. In the afternoon we head in to the park and game drive for view of zebras, topis, warthogs, giraffes, cape buffaloes and impalas. If we are lucky we catch a sight of a leopard. Day 9.- Nature walks in Lake Mburo -Transfer to Entebbe for the departure flight
Get early up for a safari walk by the lodge chance to see zebras, waterbucks, birds and buffaloes in their day break jungle life! Go back to the lodge for breakfast before starting the transfer towards Entebbe. Along the way we make a stop by the Equator, where you can have the experience of standing with one foot on either side of the southern and northern hemisphere and drive to Entebbe, relax at lodge as you wait for an early morning flight. OVERNIGHT AT VICTORIA GUEST HOUSE.
